Trans and Queer Terrains Lab (TQT, pronounced like "ticket") is an interdisciplinary research lab exploring theoretical and empirical boundaries within and between applied linguistics, linguistic anthropology, trans and gender studies, and more.
In addition to collaborative research, we organize reading group discussions, host interdisciplinary retreats, network with researchers across disciplines, and engage in public scholarship.
Our mission is to advance discussions among applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and trans studies through critical interdisciplinary inquiry, community building, and scholarly experimentation.
We are creating an interdisciplinary world where trans and queer people and theories move from the margins to the forefront of scholarship on language, communication, and meaning-making.
Interdisciplinarity
Fostering a safe place for transgressing disciplinary boundaries, trying new ideas, and applying them
Bridging real-life experiences with academic theory and inquiry
Producing knowledge that speaks to the intersections of numerous axes of oppression: from gender, race, sexuality, disability, citizenship, and more
Coalition building through sharing knowledge and collaborating
